Please note that the date for the Y1 Parents Assembly, original planned for Wednesday 8 May, is now Friday 10 May. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Reading in Reception
A big thank you to all who attended Reception’s first ‘Bookworms’ session on Thursday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of you reading with your child in school. Reading for pleasure is very important and we are hoping this will encourage even more of a love of reading for our children. The next session will be Thursday 4 April, 3.00pm-3.15pm. We look forward to seeing you all again.
Year 3/4 boys football match
We had a visit from a well-established St Georges Primary School team on Monday. It was great to give a few more children their first ever competitive match experience. From kick-off, it was clear to see the difference between the two teams but this didn’t stop the John Fletcher boys putting in some great tackles and string together a few attacking moves. Sadly the match ended in defeat, but it was another invaluable experience for the boys. Thank you to all who came and supported.
Year 5/6 football match
On Thursday we took two teams to Hollinswood Primary School. All 14 players were excited at the prospect of taking on the Hollinswood sides, and we gave a couple of debuts in the purple shirt. Both teams played amazing football, working well together and putting in the hard-work when needed. With one match finishing 13-2 and the other 8-0, it was great to see some children score their first competitive goal. These were fantastic results for the children. Thank you again for the great support we had watching the game.
Y5 John Muir Award
Y5 children had the latest of their John Muir Award days on Wednesday and enjoyed some glorious weather for it. More details of their activities will be here next week.
Please send in any kit your child has played in - clean or dirty, we can wash them - as soon as possible as it is a shame when we cannot give children full kit for up and coming sports events. We are also still looking for a sponsor to support us getting a new kit for the children. Thank you.

Just a reminder that next week is the last week for the after school clubs this term. Details of the clubs available next term will be sent home shortly.
