Chinese New Year
This week, to celebrate Chinese New Year, all the children in school have taken part in Chinese dance workshops. They have thoroughly enjoyed this celebration of the Year of the Pig and many classes have also explored Chinese food tasting (including using chop sticks) and creating Chinese Willow patterned artwork.
You should all have received your appointment slips for next week. Please ensure you arrive in time to look through your child’s work before your appointment. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend the evening, please contact the school office so we can inform the class teacher.
In view of Parents’ Evenings please remember there are no clubs running next week.
Y6 Artist Visit
As promised, here are a couple of examples of the fantastic artwork produced by the Y6 children last week working with Rory McCann.
Just a reminder that Mr Strickland (father of Noah in Reception) is running the Ironbridge half marathon and has kindly offered to raise funds for the school, which we will put towards more equipment for the children to use at playtimes. If you would like to sponsor him, please use the link below. Thank you to those who have already donated.

If you are paying for your child’s school meals by cheque, could you please make sure the cheque goes in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it.
I am delighted to inform you that Miss Wellsbury yesterday gave birth to Isla-Rae. Although this was a little early, both are doing well and we look forward to seeing them both as soon as possible.
Last Monday, we took two dodgeball teams to Telford Tennis Centre for the annual Dodgeball Competition. They both played fantastically against a range of schools from across Telford and Wrekin. Team 1 did very well, just missing out on qualifying from the group. Team 2 on the other hand, sneaked into a qualifying position, with 5 other teams, and will play a finals competition at a later date. A brilliant effort from all.
Look out for the letter coming home with the children today. We are looking to take as many pupils as possible to the Telford and Wrekin Cross Country series this year. This is an amazing chance for your child to represent our school and compete with hundreds from across the district. It is a well-organised event, encouraging children to become more active and competitive. No previous experience is required, as long as they are happy to put on a pair of trainers, run, jog or walk across the finish line with the possibility of some mud. Please send the reply slip by Friday 1 March to secure a place.
The Foodbank will be calling to collect this term’s donations on Thursday 14 February. Therefore, please could we have all donations before then. Once again, can I also remind you that the foodbank don’t just collect food items – toothbrushes, toothpaste, bars of soap, baby milk, nappies and feminine hygiene products are always needed too.
