Dear Parents

Christmas events have continued to take place this week. On Thursday we held our annual Christingle Service which, as always, was a lovely sight:

This morning, children in LD, our Language Class, held their Nativity play for parents and families. Ably supported by some Y6 pupils (all former members of LD), they told the story beautifully. It is always lovely to see them having the confidence to stand and perform.

There are more events next week, most of which take place at St Michael’s Church. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a waterproof coat every day.

After performances, there will not be a raffle as usual, due to the complexities of the church and getting people safely in and out of the building. However, we will happily accept any donations which will be split equally between the school and the church. Thank you in advance for your support.

Y6 Parents Assembly
I was delighted to see such a large turnout for the Y6 Assembly. After seeing the rehearsals and speaking to parents and staff yesterday, it is quite clear that the focus was on all their achievements this year. Amongst other things, the children shared information about their visits to RAF Cosford and Abernant, as well as their sporting successes.

Again please can we ask that you park considerately when bringing and collecting your children to and from school. We have had a very disgruntled neighbour rightly complaining this week he cannot access his property with his disabled child. Can we remind you that you can park on the Tesco car park and walk the short distance to school.

Also please can you watch speed when driving passed the school. There was an incident this week where one of our children was almost knocked over as a vehicle was not adhering to the speed limit on Upper Road/South Drive.

Consultation on Proposed School Admissions Arrangements 2020-2021
Telford and Wrekin Council have launched their consultation on proposed changes to school admissions arrangements for the academic year 2020-2021. As part of this consultation they would like to consult with parents of school age children, as well as pre-school, local residents, diocesan authorities, other local authorities and any other stakeholders, which they will be doing through a variety of channels. We would encourage you to read the proposals by viewing the document via and any comments you may have on these proposals are to be sent via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. After School Clubs
A reminder that all clubs have finished now for this term. Children will need collecting at the normal end of school time. Thank you.

Young Voices Club
Although all clubs have finished for now, Young Voices will continue after Christmas for 2 weeks and will be held on Thursday 10 and Thursday 17 January in preparation for the big event on 23 January.

Education Welfare Officer
I realised this week that I had not informed you of the change in our EWO arrangements. After a good while doing some excellent work, Mrs O’Donnell is no longer in post with us. This role is temporarily being overseen by Mrs Smith, working closely with Mrs Pitchford.

Christmas Fair
Thank you all for your support of the Christmas Fair last week which raised over £850 profit. A tremendous effort.

It has come to our attention that some pupils have been wearing earrings that are inappropriate and dangerous for school. May we take this opportunity to remind you of the Uniform Policy which states:

1 pair of stud type earrings and a watch are all that is permitted to be worn to school.

Jewellery in PE: it is recommended that children remove their earrings for PE (or do not wear them to school on PE days). If children do not remove their earrings, the school will either provide plasters to cover earrings or reserve the right to prevent participation. Parents of children with medical requirements (allergies etc) should provide their own plasters.”

Attendance Update
This week’s winners of the attendance awards are as follows:
A* Attendance: 1H with 100%
Pride in Punctuality: 2B and 3B both with 1 late

Staff arriving at school on Thursday were astounded by the sky overhead and I thought I would share it, just in case you didn’t glimpse it for yourselves, especially how it is reflected in the windows. Sometimes, you just have to marvel in the beauty of the natural world.
